Our History
THAT ALL MAY BE ONE
Strathmore University Foundation supports Strathmore University and is registered as a Kenyan-based Not for Profit Company limited by guarantee.
The sole purpose of the foundation is to mobilise resources to support the University’s initiatives such as Scholarships, Endowments, expansion of the University, and the Establishment of Research Centers & Professorial Chairs among other priorities.
The Strathmore University Foundation currently administers 10 endowed funds which earn a cumulative annual interest of KES 11.6 million. At the moment these endowed funds are utilised to support scholarships for needy students.
1. Scholarships
Scholarships are one of the core pillars of the foundation’s initiatives, since our students benefit by gaining an all-round transformative education experience, with an added advantage of community-based learning where they give back to the community in the course of pursuing their education. As at May, 2021, 13% of the student population were on financial aid.
SUF was established in 2017 by Strathmore University to spearhead resource mobilisation and friend raising initiatives for and on behalf of the University, to meet the needs of improving the student experience, develop viable research programs and offer service to the community.
2. Endowments
The University is building a future of sustainability in education. Strathmore University seeks to guarantee that current and future students will be able to access affordable and quality education offered by the University. To achieve this the University has established a framework for endowments which allows different partners, donors and well-wishers to impact the life of young people.
3. Capital Projects
Shares for charity is a project aimed at harnessing the donation of shares and odd lots towards enriching an endowment fund for scholarship funds in Strathmore.
